How to Clear Your History
Clearing your history is useful if you’re using a shared computer and don’t want other people to see the sites you’ve been accessing.
Choose your browser from the list below and follow the steps to clear your history.
Internet Explorer 11:
- Click the “Gear” icon at the top right.
- Select “Safety” then “Delete Browsing History.”
- Select “History.” You can also uncheck “Preserve Favorites website data.”
- Click “Delete” near the bottom of the window. Your computer will now clear the files. It may take a few minutes.
Firefox:
- Click the “Firefox” menu in the top left corner.
- Select the right arrow next to “History” and click “Clear Recent History.”
- Make sure “Details” is expanded, then select “Browsing and Download History” from the list.
- Uncheck everything else. In the “Time Range to Clear” drop down menu, select “Everything.”
- Select “Clear Now.”
Google Chrome 10+:
- Click the “Menu” icon in the upper right corner of the browser (three horizontal lines) then click “Settings” on the bottom of the menu.
- Click “Show advanced settings...” located at the very bottom.
- Scroll to the privacy section and click “Clear browsing data.”
- Select “Clear browsing history.” You can uncheck all other options if you would like to avoid deleting saved passwords, cookies and other things you may wish to retain. Change “Obliterate the following items from” to “the beginning of time.”
- Click “Clear browsing data.” Your computer will work to clear the files. This may take a few minutes.
